Michelle-
Great crusade idea! I have the most trouble with writing. I will write something down and then rip it out and throw it away....I have none of my written journals left from high school, only a few poems.

Also, LOVE the walls page. I am trying so hard to come up with original ideas but am blown away by yours.

Until later,
Judy

My first thought was "Aargh!", but this is actually good timing because I just made several ATC backgrounds that I thought could use some words. I also have a journal that I've been building backgrounds in, but the words I have meant to record have been neglected.
Thanks for all your examples.

Pauline Laing

I was just looking for something to do today! So I did a journal page about the topic that I was marvelling at just then - the number of stamps I own!

Here it is :

Welcome to Crusade #30 everyone ! Woohoo ! You know a wordy chick like me is going to be all over this one !

mEOW !

Xanthe

Hi Michelle, I know I really don't end up doing your crusades though I gawk each month *grins*

I would love to use more handwriting in my art or art journaling, but my writing is horrible! I hate it. Most women have such nice writing...yours is great. Is it your architecture background? Or does it come natural?

I guess I just need to embrace just how bad my writing is LOL. Honestly other than signing my name I can't write in cursive. I print everything.
Have a great weekend!

OH Wicked Woman - the walls pages are outstanding. Received my "writing on the walls" stamps from you yesterday. I'm ready to get started this weekend on this challenge and will of course have to use my "off the" walls notebook. So COOL! I have a few other pages in the workshop painted page journal we did last May that I can also include. Love this! xoxo

Lorraine

I have used a load of words that are important to me on my secret garden canvas page. I have missed a couple of challenges so it was nice to join in again.

YES! The cat's got MY tongue!!! At least for the time being... No blogposts, not many visits or comments on great Crusader's blogs... But spring has just arrived, and I nurse a desire to journal more, so maybe the time has come. we'll see... (getting up my courage here!)

Kathryn - Collage Diva

I love it! Great prompt. The sampler is delightful. I'm in!

Melisa

I don't usually write a lot in my journal. It freaks me out a bit, actually. But I've been adding a little more lately. Here's my entry -

Michelle, this is the prompting I need to get back into the art journal I started earlier this year! Thanks for the great ideas, and the encouragement!

I'll post photos soon!

I´m not writing in my own handwriting very often, but I´ve tried it here in a half hidden way to support the privateness of my "Define Yourself" pages. Still have to try writing around shapes - I love that when I see it elsewhere! Thanks for the great challenge, my pages are here:

I love this challenge...thanks so much.

Just wanted to let you know that I've nominated you for the Kreative Blogger Award... I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't the first time! Details about the duties involved with accepting the nomination are on my blog.

This is a fun one! I don't very often write in my art journals, so when I attempted this, I tried a lot of styles and don't have one 'identifiable' one! Because I am a
"serial backgrounder" I have lots of pages ready to add writing. My URL http://redtape.typepad.com/

OK, you've got me started thinking about writing the ordinary dialog that goes on in my head thru my day. I just posted the results of one such monolog. http://rgrdesigns.blogspot.com/2009/04/gpp-crusade-no-30-why-is-cow-laughing.html

This is really a fun one.
Thanks for showing us different way to express our WORDS and USE the words.

I've been viewing the Crusades for awhile now, but this one was irresistable, I had to join in. I almost always include words in my paintings. Thanks for all your inspirational ideas, keep them coming.

Great fun indeed !

I'm fairly new to art journaling and the writing part has always been a hang up for me. This post is fantastic! It gives me so many ideas and inspiration to try using more words.

Penny Stuart

Hey Michelle,
Finally....I'm posting to the team. I'm not sure I like the journaling thing....but I tried. I'm going to keep trying. I did enjoy the creating....was very apprehensive about putting words to paper. Maybe next time will be easier.

Anyhow, here is my submission.

Michelle, your challenges just get more and more fun! Or maybe I say that cause I LOVE LETTERING! Even if it's not my personal forte, I love to see what other people can do (I resort to rubber stamps a LOT).

I made up some pages in my journal...take a peek!

Woo hoo!

Melissa S.

Michelle, I have lettering on the brain now! Here is another post for this challenge.

I couldn't let this crusade pass. My journals have words, almost always. For me it's an integral part of journaling.

Eveline

Recently I have started to write a lot more in my journal. I just posted something about this Crusade, including my latest pages@

Dieverdog

Alright, I feel like the prodigal daughter... been quite some time since I've been here... I've missed the crusade! I will try to get back into the swing of things and participate again. (some of the challenges I've missed seem too good to pass up so I may also go back and do few for fun). This looks to be a good one for me to spring back into, as I like to use words in/with my art. Your samples are SOOO inspiring!

Rosie

When I saw this challenge, I knew I wanted to join in! I love to write and finally managed to find time to create a couple of pages, despite sitting surrounded by boxes. Here's my very personal crusade this month:

hey Michelle - I LOVE this Crusade in part because
http://elizabethbunsen.typepad.com/be_dream_play/2009/04/blue-skies-birdsong-and-butterflies.html
I ALWAYS always always write on pages
http://elizabethbunsen.typepad.com/be_dream_play/2009/04/rainy-day-journal-pages.html
photographs - whatever - my "hand" is so true
to me and what is journaled
so...
any post with journal pages will feature my writing
even when space is the topic

thanks so much for your ongoing inspiration -

Michelle, you've really got me posting to my blog with this crusade! I've made the first three posts this year since I read it. Here's another one.

http://on-the-banks-of-bay-creek.blogspot.com/2009/04/what-if.html

Dawn

Just one more, and I promise to quit for a while. I thought of this spread for the current Street Team Crusade, but it also works, I think, for #28 Portion Control.

I realize this is about using your writing in your art journal. I do, really. But the Crusade inspired what I did in my son's scrapbook page instead:

http://www.bloggingqueen.com/2009/04/handpicked.html

I think it's a little more adventurous than previous work I've done, so it makes me happy.

A sampling of different ways to use words is at http://commutersjournal.blogspot.com. Hope you don't mind that this is another "Best of Commuter's Journal" page.

Michelle, this challenge is just-what-I-need! Here is my first attempt. As always: Thank you for the inspiration!

This is fun fun fun!

I get so inspired when I think about art journaling, it will be 3 posts!
this is my first one, I forgot to post it yesterday!

Been on the road the last couple weeks so have't had much time to play. I usually write more than "make art" so here's a very sparse page for me. I love to use ransom letters as part of my journaling.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/25838238@N07/3462707721/

And here's a page that's more typical of my journaling.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/25838238@N07/3256456522/in/set-72157614774949267/

I want to play around with this some more especially hiding some of the journaling.

Thanks for the great ideas yet again Michelle!

Hi Michelle,

Today I finally jumped into this month's prompt of using words. It is not in journaling though, but by a little haiku on a digital collage I made this week. Hope it qualifies!! In the meantime I keep on working on more and hope to post it in time, I have really been thinking too much on this and want to thank you for this prompt. It really is not that difficult to get the words out of your head and onto your work. Thank you!

I hope it is okay to show another one, I like to journal with my poetry as well. I always think that one day when I am come someone will go through my journal and see a little glimmer of me.
