What a lovely post for today and what it honors. All your pages are just beautiful. You OWN black, white, and red...and gold. How nice to see your roses still being born...signs and wonders. oxox

Love your touches of red, and so glad you have a plan for looking after yourself, not just everyone else.

This is just gorgeous M!!! Love the colours and the grunginess of the poppies against the background is very fitting for the theme.

Beautiful tribute Michelle. The first thing that struck me was the color combo you used, and the next immediate thought was In Flanders Field, the beautiful poem. Oh, you did Veterans Day perfectly.

Hello Michelle,
I love this page ! I love poppies... that's why I'm also the teacher of the Poppyclass...:)
Past year I posted the Flanders Field poem on my blog : I lived in that region where the WW1 killed so many people.
My husband Wienne is very interested in the first world war and is a guide now in Flanders Field peace museum. He goes back very often and me, once a year to visit the region with Wienne as my guide : I'm always very emotional then. I have the feeling the ghosts of the people who died there talk to me...
It's a beautiful region with a black , black history, but the poppies still grow there...
I really like your page with the poppies : the black background with the orange glow , the shadows of the poppies and then one red poppy... Really nice.
greetings from Belgium
Inge

Poppies sent the shivers up my back and to my soul. "In Flander's Field the poppies grow....." thought of that when reading your post AND then read Inge's post. I'm drawn to WWI and that poem. When young, early teens, I saw the movie "All Quiet on the Western Front" and will never forget the ending or that butterfly. Thank you for reminding me of the poppies. hugs,
