It's thundering outside now so I'm back to being held captive by all this junk in my studio. If you saw this place you'd never know I was making progess, but I am. In fact, most of my studio is now in the living room - making room for Graham to build me a new work table this weekend. My hero!
When I'm not sorting through bins of stuff, I'm out at the pool with the family. I love light reads in the summer - the kind you can pick up and put down. You know, fun stuff. Lynne made a suggestion to me that looked so good I pre-ordered it with the author's previous release. I'm skipping around through both of them. Really hilarious. I may write to Rob and tell him I credit DD for my marriage, and meeting G. If you are an 80s product, check these out.
Talking about Girls about Duran Duran, by Rob Sheffield
Love is a Mix Tape, by Rob Sheffield
Was it last summer I read this one? I think so...Lisa put me onto it.
Eccentric Glamour by Simon Doonan Simon always delivers.
And a few years back, fell in love with this one. I think Marylinn introduced me to Nick. You saw About a Boy didn't you? He wrote that. *note to self* get more NH books.
Songbook by Nick Hornby (should have come with a music cd!)
What fun stuff are YOU reading?

Hi from Fargo! Not much time for reading this trip btw the wrestling tourney and an active 2 year old. If you haven't read the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, you definitely should. Looking forward to seeing your folks & gma on Friday.

michelle, i'm currently digging thru my studio too! what a mess, not sure if i'm making progress yet! probably not since i'm typing this instead of cleaning...procrastinating. :) i'm reading bullet by laurell k. hamilton. it's book 17 or 18 (somewhere around there, i've lost count) in her anita blake, vampire hunter series. i'm not to far along in it yet but the rest of the series i've read multiple times.

I adore Nick Hornby books - great reads! I made a cd of the Songbook songs. Although I think I had trouble finding a couple. I'll have to track it down and give it a listen! Been awhile. Thanks for the book suggestions...so many books so little time!

Love the title - love is a mix tape. Brings back memories of sitting next to my tape deck on Sunday nights, listening to the top 40 countdown, fingers poised to hit record when a favourite song came on. Ah, the 80's...
Love - MB

Hey Michelle!
I am currently reading the Twilight Saga, I am half way through Eclipse. Someone gave me Twilight to read a couple of weeks ago and I can't seem to put the books down.
It would be fun to see what you classify as junk! I have been reorganizing my studio for the past few weeks but just can't seem to get back to it right now(see above paragraph)...I have stuff in my living room/dining room area and the second bedroom. I get home from work and just want to read. I HAVE to get back to it this weekend though!
Happy cleaning!
Until later,
Judy

This is too funny. I was in my allergist's waiting room reading a magazine on Monday when I came across a tiny blurb about "Talking to girls about Duran Duran". I didn't want to forget the book, so I texted the title to my email. Just need to go buy the book. :)

Michelle, Our hardcover SONGBOOK did come with a CD...Lucas says there is a later paperback that did not...it was helpful, made it easier and quicker to access what he was writing about. Thanks to you, Leese and Lynne for the other tips. Happy summer fun.

I LOVE the art on the front of your books... So "sketchy"!
After devouring the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, I read a delightful one: Breakfast with Buddha about a New Yorker who sets off across country with a monk. A very fun read. I'm now in the middle of the Pulitzer prize winning Olive Kitteridge. Beautifully written, but so emotionally "heavy" that I need a crane to pick it up. Here's to DD and the music of the 80's!

I just ordered the D2 book, due to the title and was planing on dropping you a line since I know you were/are a fellow Duranie. One of my best friends came over a few weeks back and we watched the D2 video album and then Live at Hammersmith, 82. Good times!
High Fidelity is one of my favorite books by Hornby. He has such a delicious wit and charm to his proses.
Hope you are having a wonderful summer!! xoxoxoxoxo
