I couldn't pass up the opportunity to make a journal spread about this....and of course I have to blog about it too. I was so thrilled with the Artist Portfolio in Art Journaling. I was curious about what pages they would choose to present from the handful of journals I sent them that spanned several years. Those of you who know me well can imagine I squeeeeed when I saw all the evidence that I'm a fan-girl turn up in the publication. They certainly captured the real me, don't you think? But I'm wondering....is it possible that Stampington & Co. is under the spell of the heartagram?
For the uninformed, the Heartagram is the logo for my favorite band, HIM. We have been fans for years, have seen (and met them) numerous times, and serve on their street team.
So what makes me think Stampington is under the spell? The proof is in their magazines. It started with Jenny, who deliberately printed these *winks* between friends. I write about it in this blog post about Altered Couture (April 2007), and this one about Somerset Studio (August 2007).
But then the heartagram shows up again in Art Journaling. This time Jenny wasn't responsible. It was a committee, headed by Kellene Giloff, owner of Stampington, who determined the visual content. I recently asked Amber Demien, editor of the magazine, to share some insider information....did they realize what they were doing? Was it serendipity that these images appear in print, was it another wink, or had they fallen under the spell? Amber is an enlightened girl, and knows the heartagram, so she imparted the knowledge to Kellene, who freely selected the pages you see. It's obvious the emblem has either cast its magic....or maybe they simply believe. *grin*
Be careful when you look into the eye of that partial portrait stencil.....you are getting sleepy....very very sleepy.....sleepy....

I don't know about Stampington, but I sure am!
Until later,

Haha, if I write YAWN! here I guess you will interpret that as "she is not bored with all this HIM but instead spellbound..." Yes? well, love your page, it ROCKS!

Love it! That paper theatre with Ville on stage is how I first discovered you, so of course that's my fave of the articles you showed here. And even though I've been listening to a lot of other stuff and been out of HIM mode for a little while (horror of horrors!), it still makes me happy to see all these gothic little winks!

@Julie, :) :) :)
@Judy, *high five* fellow fan
@Hanna, If you say *yawn* it BETTER BE because you are falling under the spell, NOT because you are bored with HIM-talk.
@Carrie, I remember that first meeting with you online...the beginning of a fun friendship with you (and your mom)

Michelle, I bought that issue last week primarily because of your feature. I know I can see so much of your work on line, but it's great to have that paper in front of me to take in...
I'm so happy for you for all the enjoyment you receive from your "where's Ville?" game. [hee hee]
Thanks for sharing your joy. xoxo

thank you for a bit of Ville, since there has been NOTHING NEW AT ALL! Heartagram.com hasn't even posted since March, although I would bet Sire owns it. Love to see all your HIM artwork of course!!

Well, I think it's as with any classic, timeless element, it is going to make itself felt as a thread through visual artistry. Or am I mixing my metaphors? It may even make itself smelt!
no...
anyway, what *I* love is your Verbiage, with the little asterisks (which get bigger on some of your stamps) with excited verbiage inside them, festooned on many of your enthusiastic pieces, and believe you me (me you?), I must have those and I am going to use them! Especially the one that says *smacks forehead*, and the one that says *cracks self up* and *claps wildly* and then the ones that say {pretends to listen}, {falls over in disbelief} and {turns volume to eleven}. Oh, what the heck, I'll use them ALL on the Same Page!! If those aren't classics, I don't know what are!
Chris
p.s. *tosses confetti*

Hi there!! Thanks for telling about the Finnish songer Ville Valo!! He´s great. My son has a heartagram tattoo on his arm just because of HIM! I can´t find the Somerset anywhere her where I live and I think it´s very bad :( Greetings from Finland and the Aaland Islands/Birgitta
