I will get things started. 1. I wouldn't necessarily call myself a cookie person but there are always cookies in the house - or as Graham would call them, bickies (short for bisquits).
2. Having said that I LOVE HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES. Oh, and thinking about it, I love Oatmeal Raisin cookies too....have to be homemade.
3. Oreos are definitely in my top five. Also enjoy the new Raspberry Milanos.
Let's hear what you have to say!

Julie Prichard

1. I'm a sugar person...torturing myself by not eating carbs.. that much...
2. In a search for something new, I baked some of those famous "Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip" cookies of internet fame a couple of months ago...I have to say it was mighty tasty! The recipe called for espresso grounds..a nice touch.
3. Oreos fall in my top 5..but I love the gold ones over the black ones. I can't buy a bag though...I'd eat the entire bag in one sitting. Serious. Trouble. :)
See you soooooooooonnnnnn....
xo

Kathy

1) sugar is important!
2) fav cookie - family cowboy cookies or Xmas butter cookies
3) oreo in my top five

----------------------------
Do you know that you can STAMP with Oreos? Pay attention like at Halloween they change the design on them, cute diff pumpkin faces. I always look at the cover if I am in a stamping mood, lol
(DO NOT EAT the oreos you STAMPED with...)

tina

Totally not a cookie person although my kids are. Biscuits on the other hand??? A totally different matter. My absolute favourite? McVities Dark Chocolate digestives; I bring them back from England by the suitcase full and stash them in the freezer. Be still my heart. Gotta make a quick trip over because I am out!!!

Coral Lee

A cookie person - or as we call them in Australia - biscuits or bikkies. Oh yes, why yes I am.

Favourite - the iconic Australian biscuit - Tim Tams. 2 chocolate biscuits, with chocolate cream in the middle and coated all over in real chocolate.

I am also a "dunker". And if you have ever had Tim Tams from an Aussie, they will tell you about the "Tim Tam Slam". Bite the end off one end of the Tim Tam and just a corner off the other end. Dip the fully bitten end in the coffee (or in my case, cold chocolate milk). Suck the bitten corner then pull the Tim Tam out of the milk quickly and then eat the Tim Tam. The coffee/chocolate milk has gone through the whole biscuit, but it doesn't fall apart because the real chocolate coating on the outside holds it together. GENIUS!

Favourite biscuits - Tim Tams (the original), Hundreds & Thousands (vanilla biscuit, pink icing and hundreds & thousands sprinkles), Honey Jumbles (honey flavoured sponge style biscuit with white or pink icing on top), Monte Carlos (2 x vanilla biscuits sandwiched together with cream and very thick rasberry jam).

Can you tell I am a sweet tooth?

Let me know if you would like a packet of Tim Tams and I will send some over - as long as you promise to try a Tim Tam Slam!
Hugs - Coral Lee.

Kathryn Dyche Dechairo

I have an insane sweet tooth so am most definitely a cookie/biscuit person. Even though I live in the US I am a brit so my favorites are still some of the ones that I grew up with like jammie dodgers and custard creams (yum). I love most cookies but I've never really got into orios, probably because I didn't grow up with them. :0)

Pat P

I like softer cookies (shortbread, sugar cookies, etc.), so never craved Oreos although I do like them. Had I seen the dunkers when they came out, I'd have had to have them! I recently saw something about Mint Oreos! I'm a huge chocolate mint anything person. I'll be looking for those!

michelle ward

Julie, interesting tidbit - espresso grounds? Clever ingredient! Really? The gold ones? Have you seen the Neopolitan ones? Triple stack of blond wafers with one layer of strawberry frosting, one layer of chocolate. Thanks for contributing to the conversation...see you at the end of the month!

Kathy, I never heard of cowboy cookies! Stamping? Now that is an interesting trick! Thanks for coming by and adding to the chatter.

Tina, omg...how are you? Miss you. McVities is a name I am very familiar with. We have a few sources nearby. I could send some...or you could visit ;)

Coral Lee, there is no doubting your passion for the TT. I have heard of the famous slam. In fact, I've tried it! Check this out - my grocery store sells them. But thanks for the offer! xo

Kathryn, my husband is also a brit and loves jammie dodgers. Orange flavor. He has grown an appreciation for Oreos since moving here.

I just had a fun flashback to childhood as both Coral Lee and Kathryn mentioned "sweet tooth". I have a personal story...*runs to make a journal page about it*.

Thank you ladies, for the conversation this morning :)

Pat, oh yes - I've had the mint oreos. I am partial to mint too. My favorite ice cream is Baskin Robbins mint chocolate chip. My store must carry alot of the line like the mint, peanut butter, strawberry milkshake, chocolate covered, and the birthday one with confetti bits in the frosting. Thanks for coming by!

Erin Perry

Oh yes - a cookie person. Fave - homemade chocolate chip- still warm, chocolate gooey. Oreos are in the top 5, but the original - chocolate cookie, single stuff - nom nom!

Lisa Hoffman

Cookies?...Yes.
*I love those chocolate cookies from Pepperidge Farm with the peanuts smashed up on the top.
*how about those wicked Samoas from The Girl Scouts?...chocolate and coconut.
*Chocolate chip cookies with nuts...soft or hard.
*here's a real JUNKY option: those long vanilla wafers totally covered in chocolate.
*and yes, Oreos. I'm with Julie: "...keep the dang bag AWAY from me...."
I never saw those fun DUNKERS!
and by the way, your journal page ROCKS.
SUPER fun post!

michelle ward

Erin, I'm with you...warm CCC (ChocolateChipCookie), and OO (OriginalOreos). *clinks glass of milk*

Lisa, oh my...you've opened another subject: Girl Scout Cookies! We just rec'd our order from the Brownie next door. Before I go into FLAVOR, can I say how disappointing it is that the packages are getting smaller, quantity less, and cost high? I am happy to support the troops (with a small "t"), but $20 doesn't buy what it used to. Fave GSC: peanut butter sandwich, formerly known as Savannahs. And of course, Thin Mints always get ordered. Just because.

Thanks ladies!

Carrie

Clever pages! Even using the little crossed squares from the cookie pattern. Way cool. Now... on to your questions...

1. YES!

2. Hard to pick a favorite. Usually my favorite is whatever kind of cookie I happen to be eating at the time ;) The standards are generally Tollhouse chocolate chip cookies (homemade of course), Oreos, Tagalongs, Samoas, good shortbread... Ooh, there's a recipe I tried once for shortbread with Creme de Cassis in it. Delicious! A friend of mine once made bacon chocolate chip cookies, those were awesome too...

3. Yeah, I'd say Oreos are in my top 5. And now I'm craving them. And also Tim Tams, since Coral Lee talked about them above. I had those once or twice, love doing the slam with a good black tea!

Chris

Dear Michelle;

How are you? I'm fine.

I must say, I really like me an Oreo with a sip of milk, and then five Oreos dunked in a quart of milk, and then a nap.

However, I always liked Hydrox better. And I know I am going to be the only one in the world who mourned the loss of Hydrox. Oreos were always much sweeter and airier than Hydrox, and they have too much filling. But that's okay, because now... NOW.... I have Trader Joe's Joe-Joes !!! They come in Vanilla bean and Chocolate, both with cream. At Christmas they come with peppermint filling, and occasionally they have had peanut butter filling. Oh, JOYOUS DAY, Calloo Callay!

I guess that's the first and second questions.

The third one:

1. Vanilla Joe-Joes
2. Kelley's Kookies Melting Moments - They are those little round shortbread balls covered in layers of powdered sugar. Kelley's are the best version I've seen, including the ones I make at Christmas!
3. Vienna Fingers
4. Chocolate Truffle cookies made from Trader Joe's Truffle Brownie Mix. They are truly chewy chocolate cookies with chips in them. and the edges are crispy. Heaven, when you want a chocolate cookie!
5. Martha Stewarts Giant Ginger Cookies (of course, I have to make them myself.)

I have to go now. Thank you for asking.

No dinner for ME tonight!

xo

Yes I'm a cookie person. My brother is 9 years older than me and when I came home from school he gave me oreos; I'm love the double-stuff. They are the only store bought cookies I eat. We use to have contests with family or who ever was in the house on who can open an oreo without breaking the cookie. I won all the time. I guess I did eat a lot of them. LOL

I'm partial to soft, warm homemade chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal craisan dark chocolate chip cookies and my friend, Emily's, soft sugar cookies.

Depending of my mood Oreos can come in at any spot on the list. It's a comfort food with lots of wonderful memories.

stephanie

i love Oreos, prefer to peel some apart and lick out the middle, dunk others whole. What Google DID do today was honor all females for International Women's Day. Imagine a world where girls and women are treated with the honor, dignity and respect they deserve, not just in the developed world. I am cutting them a little slack for not honoring the Oreo. Ok off my soapbox now :)

Marlynn

OK - I wasn't craving cookies till I read this post. NOW I want a cookie and there are none in the home. 1. Cookie person - yes; 2. My fav cookies: - Madeleines OMG (Starbucks are pretty good but you can't beat the ones at Le Madeleines Cafe). Do I like Oreos? WE have a love/hate relationship. Goes back to when I was 8 and got car sick eating Oreos and drinking Dr. Pepper. But in honor of their 100 Anniversary I will go out and buy some tomorrow. Hugs, girlie girl!

donna joy

I am a cookie person however, i consider myself a cookie snob. I am not a fan of store bought cookies. Don't get me
wrong, in my younger days i ate plenty of them(including oreos) but not anymore! In fact i made up a batch last night-they are already rolled into balls and ready to bake~ a very rich chocolate chip/white choc chip/pudding in the mix
recipe from pinterest :)

Cat

As Oreos are a commercial store-bought cookie, I will confine my answers to that kind of cookie. Home-made is a whole other ball game!! 1. I LOVE cookies!! 2. my favorite is original Chips Ahoy followed closely by 3. Oreos!!

Carolyn Dube

Yes a cookie person- love Oreos because they are dairy free! Crazy that milk's favorite cookie is dairy free!

Hey Michelle,
Let's keep the party rockin forever! What a great post and questions. The first coolkie that came to mind was the girl scout cookie with the coconut whose name I would never have guessed- but there was Ms Lisa with the name right off the top of her tongue! So way to go LIsa. I haven't had girls scouts cookies in over 20 years. No one seems to come by in our building to sell them.
Other cookies that I've always loved are peanut butter cookies and white chocolate macademia cookies, shortbreak cookies, and there are greek cookies covered in confectionary sugar that I love. And there are.... yes, my list can go on for a long time. As for the oreo, I loved them growing up, would split them in half, and eat each side alone- sometimes dipping them in milk! In a few days, I am going to post the answers to my questions I posed to Seth along with answers that were left in comments about why blogs or websites were started. Some are very poignant! xo Can't wait to meet!! xo

LOOOOVVVE cookies!! I am pregnant & have gestational diabetes, so I cannot have any sugar for the next 6 months --- it is SO HARD. Sugar free cookies are not the same. My favorites are ANY that are homemade. Key lime cookies, lemon cream filled, those holiday ones that are peanut butter with a hershey kiss in the middle, snicker doodles, chocolate chip, vanilla oreos (but I must confess I prefer the store brand to the OREO brand....), shortbreads with chocolate on the bottom, vienna fingers, oatmeal raisin, those greek ones with confectionery sugar mentioned by Jill, Christmas cookie cutter cookies, and Girl Scout Samoas. Clearly I love cookies.....but believe it or not the traditional chocolate oreos I do not care for!

rivergardenstudio

Love your "work table evidence" and your journal pages and the photographs of the Oreo. I am not really a cookie person, but see the beauty in this one! (oh I do love a homemade cookie sometimes, too bad I don't bake)!

Michelle, I'm definitely a cookie person!! I make a ton of different kinds at Christmas and always have to try at least one new recipe. I love soft chocolate chips and raisin/oatmeal, and peanut butter too!!! And the Savannahs are my fav GS cookie, hubby is a Thin Mint man!!

I used to love Oreos, but last year my daughter was working in a Hostess bakery where Oreos were processed. After hearing her stories I'll never eat them again!
