Ya know how you have sayings within your family, or between friends, and those sayings or words mean something only to you? Almost like a family code. THAT'S what I want you to journal or blog about for this Crusade. The thing is, especially for those of you who have small children, your 'sayings' might be fleeting, for a short-lived time, or you may, in time, forget the back story. I think it will be really cool for you to domument them, and then share them with us.
The funny thing about this crusade topic: I have a list of challenges prepared for the next few months, and this was the next one on my list. What I didn't realize was the timing of it, aligned with the recent visit from our family in England. It was interesting for our kids to experience having English speaking relatives who use much different English than we do. Say, for instance, the way we say aluminum is not at all the way Brits say it. And a bin liner is a trash bag, and orange cordial is not on our regular shopping list, but it is on theirs. Their visit got me thinking about more things I want to journal about. Here are some of our family words:
Please join us in the Crusade by making a journal page or blog entry about your secret, cryptic, or personal sayings. Add a comment here and link to your blog, website, or photo hosting venue. You can join Crusade No. 7 by choosing from this or any previous crusade. The point, in case you are still a lurker and trying to figure out what we are doing here, is to cast a wider net and find the kindred spirits we are meant to find. Entering a crusade simply means you want to stretch your creative muscles by taking on the prompt, are willing to share your work, and at the same time direct traffic to your own site. THANKS TO ALL TEAMERS WHO HAVE PLAYED SO FAR....YOU ROCK. What an inspiration to see so many of you sharing not only your crusade entries, but also your heartfelt comments on each others blogs. Cool!
CRUSADE No. 7 ~ "Say What?" DUE MAY 1st.
p.s. If you read the first saying on my journal page, you'll notice you are all "In the Shackles" as I try to convince you to love HIM as much as we do :)
EDIT: If you can't think of any phrases you use, start paying attention and they will come to you. Maybe there are famous lines from movies you commonly quote, like one of our faves, "Lighten Up Francis" from Stripes, or "What Does It All Mean, Basil?" from Austin Powers. I know my friend Lisa will say: "More Cowbell".
More sayings....Peter is famous for making up words, like his Mom.
