...that I would crush-talk about my band. But here's something even I didn't see coming, until Flo posted her crushes....then I got a little heart palpitation....and it got even bigger when I opened her package that just arrived. Go see her crush post and scroll down the bottom. Not only did she send me the latest Kerrang, with You-Know-Who on the cover, but she made me one of her now-famous crush stamps, of the same You-Know-Who, FOR ME! This is one of the cool aftermaths of sharing your crushes. Because when you express your pure enthusiasm for something your friends want to feed that passion. Am I right?
Come on, H.C.I.T.? And I couldn't let today go by without mention of the band since it's the official release date of the new album, Venus Doom. (IF your sound is turned up you are listening to the first single: Kiss of Dawn.) On Sunday Fallon and I met up with some of the NJ/NY HIM Street Team to do some promoting. In the words of Warner Bros. Street Network it's called 'sniping'. We got stashes of postcards and posters and stickers from the record company and left them at cool stores throughout the city, as well as on random light posts and telephone booths. You get the idea. Here's the evidence:
I even made some stencils....we use them with Spray Chalk. YES. YOU READ THAT RIGHT! Spray chalk! (Found at school supply shops for chalkboards, or at your local hardware for landscape marking). It washes away....great for shopping mall parking lots. We did this last week following the Venus Doom listening party at Hot Topic. The evidence:
When you are on a street team for a band, you log in your activity to get points. I have moved up the leader board and I'm in the top 20. But this is the coolest - yesterday here is what the news page looked like - it's Fallon in the photo!!
You knew I had a CRUSH on HIM, but as I said, I had to mention them again today since the album just came out. Now you know a little more about what it means to be on a Street Team, through the StreetNetwork, which is where I got the idea for the GPP Street Team. It doesn't matter WHAT you have an infatuation with - it's just fun to have a passion, right? Thanks for sharing your crushes with OUR team. I am feeling so much energy reading all these posts.
And again, many thanks to my friend Flo (who I've gotten to know better because of this team) for the terrific fangirl gift. xoxo
