So I had every intention to finish my Pierrot doll/box project this month. Didn't happen. I will continue to move forward during stolen moments over the next month. It's not that my Muse wasn't available. It was me that was too busy. I did manage to try something new......
I was putting together some of my favorite things for my Me First journal. (More on that another time). With all these items sitting out I had an itch to try making one of Belinda's icicle dolls. I've never made a doll before and this one looks more like a Drumstick Ice Cream Cone than a doll but it was fun. I learned I need to pay better attention to tension. Notice how the thread is pulling as it rounds the corners on the framed face? I'm a dunce when it comes to sewing but I did catch the bug and bought a bunch of fabric for making hats. How did I go from dolls to hats? I'll tell you about that one later too.
Above is the clock case I'm going to use to shrine out a Pierrot doll. It's supersized and I thought it would be perfect for the doll on the right but she's too big. I started painting tyvek for her clothing to stitch together (which was another excuse to get out the sewing machine). Now I'm regrouping and will most lilely use the doll on the left for the box. She came bottomless so I'll need to fashion some pantaloons for her. Do I try to match the existing black satin or go radical with something different? Hmmmm.
When I showed my Wendy Addison photos on my other blog I didn't show this one. Isn't it priceless? It's her costume, brought from California. She kindly (and enthusiastically) posed with it for me. Just the costume alone made my heart skip a beat.
I have a mini-Muse to share. I love pens. Don't you? You know that thrill you get when you try one out at Staples and you quickly grab like a dozen, and then scope out if it comes in red and turquoise? That's how I felt a few weeks ago when I was at Pearl.....it only came in purple (not a color I would normally buy) but I had to have one to take home and research where to get more. Varsity by Pilot. (You can order online!) I haven't tried the other erasable one I've shown but the packaging is reason enough to get one, don't you think?
There is still one more day left on the Muse Crusade. It's been a fun month - lots of creative posts. Thanks to all the players for the fun reads.
