Thank you to the Believers! I enjoyed your observations and remarks about being Creatives. I know there are more of you out there - if you want to make your claim and join in you can do so at any time. We love meeting new friends, especially ones that share our enthusiasm for living an artful life.
As we wind down the year of Evidence Journaling we have to talk about music. I always take an annual review of what I've been listening to and put those playlists in my journal. It's a terrific time capsule. It's been a long time since I've prompted you to consider music, yet it's something that is important to me on a daily basis. I encourage you to document your current favorite tunes like we did exactly FIVE years ago with Crusade No. 2. However, this month I want you to think about the songs that make you sing out loud. Like really loud. Like I-don't-care-who-sees-or-hears-me loud. Like you're driving in the car and a song comes on and you break out in full-blown voice. And the guy at the stop light sees you bopping along and wonders what you're listening to because he wishes he could find the same radio station. All the world's a stage when you are an impulsive and confident singer.
Doesn't it feel good so sing it loud? I start the mornings in my studio with many different kinds of music. Anything that will get me tapping along, getting my blood pumping and body moving. I made the page below with a handful of songs I know I belted out while driving around town today. Some were on cds, some were random selections from the radio. For a time I was stuck in a traffic jam so I pulled out the drumsticks. I'm sure I looked a right fool trying to keep up with the beat but it dispelled my frustration. I've carried drumsticks in my car since I was 16. They double as a microphone :)
Do you sing in the shower? Do you wear headphones while walking the neighborhood and find it hard to refrain from humming along? I'll never be a contestant on American Idol or The X Factor, and I've never done karaoke, but I do love to sing. I love when my kids sing in the car with me - fearless and unconcerned about ability, just feeling it and doing it. There are some songs that just make you want to step into the shoes of the lead singer. (My husband has the talent - used his pipes in several bands).
Click the arrow and play this one. I dare you not to sing along.
As I said, we made journal pages of our playlists for Crusade No. 2. here are mine:
And then we had a record number of participants (100+) for Crusade No. 11, where we embedded videos on our blogs. So I know you love music. And I know you sing along.
All the world's a stage for us wanna-be performers. Tell us what gets you to hold a fist in front of your face as an imaginary microphone. One song or many. You may find yourself adding to the list so start now....
