Appointment with Art

Just spent a few days with friends making art.  It is a wonderful thing to find kindred spirits in this world, and it's even better when you can find the time to spend with them.  From Wednesday to Sunday we girls were in the studio making stuff, teaching, sharing, learning, and most definitely laughing.  We call it the Gathering.  A rare and special treat to get away, especially with these talented chicks.

Alterations Department

This book was away from me for a while so some of the pages could be used in Stampington's publication Transparent Art .  I really missed working in this little book.  Altering pages is such a satisfying practice, and it just feels so good to hold the thing in your hands.

Art and Life and Rock and Roll

If you got Teesha's latest issue of Art and Life, then you read Lynne's article about puppets.  My contribution, "The Mad Hatter" came from my latest rock and roll obsession with the band HIM. 

Sunday, the puppet (and I) got to meet Ville Valo, lead singer from HIM.  Well, I met the whole band but this is the picture that counts!  And I wasn't the oldest member of the NJ Street Team either!  If you have to ask what a street team is.........well YOU'RE too old....or you just aren't as crazy as I am.

can't stop myself

I love carving!  It's a great way to incorporate your own images into your art - especially the big stamps - they are great with paint.  Below is a picture of the piece I made for Gloria Page's book:  Art Stamping Workshop.  It's 12" x 12" carved rubber that has been stamped with black paint on several swatches of painted papers.  Then the swatches were cut up and assembled to recreate the pattern, and finally it was brushed and monoprinted.  If you haven't started carving yet - be warned: it's addictive!
