Day 24: more guest covers from near and far. We have NJ, NY, parts if the US, Turkey, Balkans, Tokyo, and Western Australia.
First, my next door neighbor got in the spirit and texted me photos from the area where she works. Thank you Liz!
More from New York City. These are from Stuart Weger, who I met through instagram. As I mentioned earlier, I'm new to IG but figured out how to work the hashtags, which led me to a huge list of manhole cover enthusiasts. Thanks for these Stuart!
Leslie Cefali has been flooding my inbox with photos from her travels. This girl gets around! And she also has been taking photos of covers while visiting locations in the states, as well as in Italy. Notice the upper left - a custom cover!! I did a little surfing and found where you can have one digitally mocked up, HERE. So cool Leslie - thanks for all of these!
Next, Ozge sends us covers from her home country Turkey, and some seen while traveling in the Balkans. Thanks for sharing Ozge!
Suz Simanaitis is currently in Tokyo and sent covers through facebook. How cool is that? I LOVE the + + + on the bottom left, outside the National Theater in Tokyo. She said the narrow grate wrapped around the whole building. Lower right: that's a rug under her desk - acts as an escape hatch for when she wants to slink away to Paris. Smart girl. Thanks Suz! Hope you're having a fun time over there!
If you google 'Japanese manhole cover' you will get pages of highly decorative and colorful visuals. (HERE is a flickr album filled with them)
Helen, from the Netherlands was reading the blog and posted covers from her area, HERE.
And the last for today, from my friend Megan Warren. She shows us the covers from her area in Western Australia, and shares a very personal poem. Thanks Megan!
Thanks to everyone who sent me covers for today! It's been so much fun to see all the different designs.
